There is the very slim chance he's running with his chat window minimized. I've done it many times when the system or NPC corp chat was just plain "mentally challenged". There is no sound notification or pop-up when receiving a private message, so that can be missed. I'm pretty sure though that somebody flying back and forth from the belt to a station and not communicating when contacted is probably a macro miner. When I go AFK for something like a bio break or to get a drink, my strip miners will be cycling or I'll have docked to unload. With my newish 24" monitor there's no need to minimize chat, and I like to keep an eye out for reports of can flippers. __________________________________________ "I didn't do it, wasn't me, can't prove nuthin'" |

Edited by: Aerik Erwi on 05/03/2009 12:14:12 I reported a suspected macrominer the other day. As of very early this morning still operating. The modus operandi of this person, is the following:
1. warp to belt, mine for approximately fifteen minutes with combat drones out. 2. warp to station to empty cargo. 3. warp to different belt, same procedure as #1 above. 4. warp to station. 5. repeat #3-4 until cycle takes her back to original belt.
I've taken to pulling the same ore type, in the same part of the belt. I pulled from the same three rocks until they were gone, and she stayed in place for the set duration not targeting new rocks, and then warping away to continue the cycle.
I'm a creature of habit. I'll stay in one belt pulling the ore I want until it's gone, then moving on to either another belt, or if I've scouted already and seen them picked clean, stay there and pull a different type of ore. The other regulars in frigs or cruisers, or the odd indy with a miner II, all seem to do the same, but this person bounces from belt to belt in a regular pattern. To me that seems quite a bit more suspect than not responding to convo requests or mails. Well that and being on 23/7.
I'd like to point out that this person doesn't impact my extraction of ore at all. Only rarely will we target the same rocks, and even then I still fill several cans before I log off, unless I am playing from work. This person, if a macroer, impacts me by making other players assume that all miners in a hulk (I'm not in one yet) are running a macro and are AFK. That makes them believe they have the right to harass me or try to kill me. This is why I am anti-macroer.

But I am even more against randomly labelling people as macroers without proof.
Which is why I haven't mentioned a name, as I only have suspicion and no hard proof. I gladly included the name in my petition though.

I'll respond to any convo or email I get, if I see it. But I can usually be found in the Help channel picking brains. I do at times get up to use the restroom or grab something out of the fridge between strip miner cycles so it might take me a minute to respond. Anyways I can prove easily enough I'm not a macro miner, as I'm not on 23/7. I work for a living and it's hard to log on right after downtime when I'm pulling a 16 hour shift in a city 40 miles from home. I do have to say I like Ms Delerium's method.
